Ways to access your cash

There are several ways in which you can withdraw and deposit your cash. Choose the best option for you.

For information on how much cash you can withdraw each day, see our cash withdrawal limits.

Branches

Visit our branch colleagues for help with cash withdrawals and deposits. You can also order counter drafts for higher amounts if needed.

Our branches are a valued part of the community. That’s why all 605 of them are remaining open until at least the start of 2030. That's our Branch Promise.

Cash machines and ATMs

Find your nearest cash machine - both here or abroad. And understand the difference of services each offer.

Note:

Services offered by our cash machines may vary. The same is true of the number of notes or cheques you can pay in. And other cash machine providers – including those abroad – may charge you to use their services.

Nationwide cash machines

With our cash machines, you can:

  • withdraw cash
  • check your balance
  • pay in up to £2,500 a day in cash
  • pay in up to £50,000 a day in cheques — maximum amount for each cheque is £2,000
  • pay bills or transfer money to existing payees
  • change or unlock your PIN
  • view and print a mini statement.

Other cash machines

You can use any LINK cash machine in the UK to:

  • withdraw cash
  • check your balance
  • change or unblock your PIN.

Cash machines abroad

You can use any cash machine anywhere in the world if it accepts Visa.

Post Office

Certain accounts can use their local Post Office to check their balance and withdraw up to £500. These are:

  • FlexAccount
  • FlexPlus
  • FlexDirect
  • FlexBasic

Too far away from cash services?

You can request an access to cash review of your area if you think there is a shortage of services.

We’ve partnered with LINK to create more ways for you to be able to withdraw or pay in cash. Together, we assess areas to see if they need extra cash services. And then supply them if needed.

Anyone with sufficient interest can make a request (link opens in a new window). This includes local residents, business owners, local councils, trader associations, elected representatives and regular visitors.

Reviews are triggered automatically when a bank or building society branch closes, or if a cash machine is no longer free to use.

The same area won’t be reviewed twice within a year - unless there is a change to services. So check for any previous reviews before completing a request. You can search the LINK website (link opens in a new window) by local area, county or bank.

If a request is withdrawn the review is no longer required.
