There’s a cash deposit limit of £20,000
On 29 July 2026 we introduced a £20,000 limit on the amount of cash you can pay in each year. This limit is across your personal current and savings accounts. And applies to wherever you pay in cash.
How it works
For accounts held in your sole name, you can pay in £20,000 in total across all of them.
For joint accounts, each account has its own £20,000 annual cash limit. This is shared between you and the other account holder.
For 2026, we will only count the money you pay in between 29 July and 31 December towards these limits.
These limits will then reset on 1 January 2027. And each year after that.
