1. 605 branches open across the UK

  2. 133 branches are the last in town

  3. 200 branches with Dementia UK clinics

We’re not closing our branches

Our branches are a valued part of the UK’s high streets. That’s why we’re ensuring they will be here today, and here tomorrow. So you can choose how to bank – in branch, in our app, or over the phone.

All 605 of them are remaining open until at least the start of 2030. Keeping our branches open is one of the reasons we were awarded Which? Banking Brand of the Year 2025.

There may be circumstances beyond our control that mean we have to close a branch. Or relocate it in the same town. We’ll only do so when there’s no other workable option.

The UK's best high street banking provider for service

We are rated the UK’s best high street banking provider for customer satisfaction in the building society and banking sector.

Reported by The UK Customer Satisfaction Index (July 2025) published by The Institute of Customer Service. 19 banking providers appear in the survey. Our high street banking provider peer group consists of those banks in the survey that have their own branches (excluding hubs and the Post Office).

A message from our CEO

“Our customers can be confident that they can bank with us whichever way they choose. Branches are important to our customers, to communities, and to the health of our high streets. That’s why Nationwide will continue to keep branches open in addition to our investment in online and telephone channels.”
Dame Debbie Crosbie DBE, CEO of Nationwide Building Society

Supporting your communities

Dementia clinics

200 Nationwide branches now offer free, confidential appointments with Dementia UK specialist Admiral Nurses.

They give expert advice and emotional support to help anyone affected by dementia.

Speak Easy Cards

For those who may find it hard to speak, we’ve made Speak Easy cards.

They have pictures and phrases and can be used to speak with our branch staff. So your visit is that bit easier.

There are Safe Spaces in 400 of our branches for those who need refuge from domestic abuse.

These private areas are where you can rest, explore options, and access help safely and confidentially.

You can access sign-language and deaf-blind interpreters, lip-speakers, and notetakers in our branches.

Simply scan a QR code on your smartphone or tablet to connect with a British Sign Language (BSL) interpreter. Some of our team are BSL-trained too.
