To get FlexPlus mobile phone insurance
You need to:
- have a FlexPlus current account.
- be a UK resident.
It’s not possible to have a FlexPlus account without the insurances, and you can’t buy the insurances separately.
Make sure you read and understand the policy documents:
When you make a claim, you can use the policy document to specify what help you need. This will help us to process your claim quickly and effectively.
Who is covered
The insurance covers all Nationwide FlexPlus current account holders, their partners and dependent children.
A dependent child is any child, including a legally adopted, fostered or stepchild, of the account holder. They have to be all of the following to be covered:
- under 19, or under 22 if in full-time education
- living permanently with either the account holder or their other parent
- not married or in a civil partnership.
This is the person the account holder lives with at their home address. They should be in a relationship, whether married or cohabiting, regardless of gender.
When your cover starts
As soon as your FlexPlus account is open, you will start to benefit from the insurances.
Sometimes we might not be able to open your account straight away. For example, if you are opening a joint account and we need additional signatures. In these cases, your cover begins as soon as you get your confirmation letter to tell you the account is open.
If you already have mobile phone insurance
Before you apply, consider if you already have mobile phone insurance. You may be paying twice for the same cover, so you’ll need to consider which policy provides the best cover for you.
The cost of any claims, if you are covered by more than one policy, may be shared between the insurance companies.
Registering your phone
Not registering your mobile phone won't affect your ability to claim, however it could improve your experience if you register your mobile phone details up front.
To register, you’ll need your:
- phone number
- phone make and model
- IMEI number. Get this by typing *#06# into your phone
- FlexPlus current account number and sort code
Over the phone
Make a claim
You’ll need to prove you own the phone when you make a claim. This could be a till receipt or documentation from your network provider showing the IMEI number, make and model of your phone.
You can get your IMEI number by typing *#06# into your phone.
What you’ll need for different types of claim:
- For loss or theft claims, you will need to contact your network provider as soon as possible to bar your SIM card once you discover it missing.
- For theft claims, you will also need to provide a crime reference number. You’ll need to contact the police to get a crime reference number.
- For accidental damage or breakdown claims, you will need to post your mobile phone to us for repair.
