Fairer Futures

Fairer Futures is about helping those who have been dealt an unfair hand.

We're working with Centrepoint, Action for Children and Dementia UK to tackle 3 of the biggest issues we see in society today.

  • youth homelessness
  • families living in poverty
  • people living with dementia

The Nationwide Foundation

Each year 25% of our funding goes to the Nationwide Foundation.

This independent charity works to create lasting change to tackle disadvantage in the UK. Its vision is for everyone to have a decent home that they can afford.

Understand the difference we make

In 2007 our members voted to donate at least 1% of our pre-tax profits to charities.

Our social investment impact report shows how we spent our charitable donations in the previous year. In the 2022/23 financial year, this came to £9.6 million.

Supporting volunteering and fundraising

We encourage our colleagues to support the charities close to their hearts through fundraising and volunteering. They can use up to 14 hours of paid leave each year to do this. And we will be encouraging them to support Fairer Futures too.

We also:

  • match fundraising for UK registered charities, up to £100 per colleague.

  • offer grants of up to £10,000 that colleagues can apply for in order to support a charity close to their heart.

  • enable colleagues to donate the last pence of their monthly pay to one of our charity partners each month.

  • enable colleagues to donate money directly from their salary to any UK registered charity.

  • have a network of Social Impact leads who encourage teams and individuals to fundraise, volunteer and raise awareness of our charity partners.
