Funding breakthroughs in cancer treatment
Nationwide Fairer Futures funds 30 specialist research staff at The Royal Marsden, working across 100 clinical trials. This research aims to develop more effective, personalised treatments that save and improve the lives of cancer patients.
Continuing life-saving work
The wide-ranging research portfolio of clinical trials will aim to advance breakthroughs in cancer treatment, across all treatment types including radiotherapy, surgery, targeted therapies and immunotherapy. The Royal Marsden focus on the development of personalised, precise treatment, to ensure that more patients can be treated successfully with fewer side effects.
Cancer education for Nationwide colleagues
Through the partnership, we will work with experts from The Royal Marsden School. We want to strengthen our understanding of the cancer journey from screening and diagnosis to treatment and ongoing care. This will ensure colleagues support customers affected by cancer in the best possible way.
Working together to make a difference
Cancer not only affects many of us, it also disproportionately impacts those who are already disadvantaged. Cancer’s deeply unfair impact on many people’s lives is an issue that our colleagues and customers care about. We will support the development of more effective treatments for the benefit of people with cancer and their families across the UK and beyond.
Our Nationwide Fairer Futures aim
We're funding 30 specialist research staff at The Royal Marsden over the next 2 years. In that time, they will work on a total of 100 clinical trials that will aim to achieve breakthroughs in cancer treatment, bringing hope to patients and families across the UK.
