Flooding and storm damage
Your home and contents will be covered for storm and flood damage if you take out Buildings and Contents insurance respectively. Subsidence happens when the ground underneath your property moves, affecting its stability. This generally happens in an uneven way, causing cracking to the structure of the property. If you already have Home Insurance with us and claim for damage caused by subsidence, heave or landslip, you'll need to pay an excess of £1,000.
If your home is showing signs of subsidence, landslip or heave – or has ever been damaged by it in the past – we won't be able to give you a new Home Insurance policy unless you already have a mortgage with us.

We also can't give you Contents insurance if you let your home to other people or if you have more than two lodgers.
