Our FlexDirect current account is a self-service account. This means that you must manage your account online, using our Banking app or Internet Bank, at cash machines, or over the phone with automated telephone banking.

If you cannot do what you need to through these ways to bank, we may be able to help you in branch.

You can pay in cash of any amount at at our branches.

Pay in cheques

You can pay in cheques of any amount at at our branches.

Depending on your account and the cheque amount, you may be able to use one of our cash machines.

Withdraw cash

You can withdraw cash of any amount at at our branches.

You can also withdraw cash from non-Nationwide cash machines.


Sending money to people and businesses

Make payments

You can make bill payments, set up standing orders and manage Direct Debits online, on our Internet Bank or Banking app, and at our branches.

Transfer money between your Nationwide accounts

You can transfer money between your Nationwide accounts online, on our Internet Bank or Banking app, and at our branches.

You can also transfer money between your Nationwide accounts over the phone using our automated telephone banking, except for transferring to our credit cards.

Make CHAPS payments

You can make CHAPS payments on our Internet Bank or at our branches.

Make international payments

You can make international payments on our Internet Bank or at our branches.


Managing your money

Check your balance

You can check your balance:

  • online, on our Internet Bank or Banking app
  • over the phone using our automated telephone banking
  • using our cash machines
  • over the phone by contacting our team
  • at our branches
  • via our text alert service, if you’ve opted in.

Get a statement

You can get a statement on our Internet Bank, over the phone by contacting our team or at our branches.

Manage your arranged overdraft

If your account has an arranged overdraft available, you can check your limit, apply for an increase to your limit or reduce your limit however you like to bank.

We encourage you to first try to change your arranged overdraft online, on our Internet Bank or Banking app. If you still need help, you can then call us.


For emergencies

Report your card lost or stolen

You can report a card lost or stolen on our Banking app, over the phone by contacting our team or at our branches.

Freeze or unfreeze your card

You can freeze or unfreeze your card on our Banking app.

Stop a cheque

You can stop or cancel a cheque over the phone by contacting our team or at our branches.
