Ways we’re protecting you

When it comes to our Banking app, security includes:

  • Sophisticated encryption technology — the same as we use for our Internet Bank.

  • Face or fingerprint recognition — if your device supports this.

  • Trusted devices — register up to 6 devices and we’ll only allow them to access your app.

  • Email or text alerts — when a new device accesses your app.

  • Automatic log out — in case you forget or leave your mobile or tablet somewhere.

This is all part of our Digital Banking Promise, to protect you from fraud.

Ways you can protect yourself

While our technology is secure, there are things that you can do to protect your information and devices.

Don't ever give out your passcodes, log in or banking details

We’ll never ask you to give us your full:

  • card reader codes
  • one-time codes
  • memorable data
  • passnumber.

If anyone asks, always say no.

Don't open the app from a link

We’ll never ask you to log in to the Banking app by using a link in an email or text message.

If you haven't opted out, we'll occasionally send you notifications in the app when there's something for you to do.

Note:

Always log in to the app using the trusted icon on your device.

Keep your device safe

To keep your device and online banking secure:

  • Keep an eye on your device and don’t leave it where others can use it.
  • Use a unique password lock on your device.
  • Be careful with shared devices. Fingerprints or faces registered on a device can be used to open the app.
  • Never store login details on your device.
  • Take care when using unsecured WiFi networks, like in coffee shops and on trains. People using the same network might find a way to access your data.
