You can use a card reader from another bank or building society as long as it accepts your Visa debit card.

Rather use account biometrics?

We want to make it easier and safer for you to confirm your identity when you do your everyday banking. Account biometrics is when we use fingerprints or facial recognition to check it's you.

Current account holders can now use account biometrics to make payments in the Banking app without using a card reader.

We might still need to confirm your identity using your card reader. For example, when we need to carry out extra security checks, so don't throw your card reader away, please keep it somewhere safe just in case.

If you’ve recently registered for the Internet Bank, it can take up to 7 days for your card reader to arrive.

You can ask for a card reader at your nearest branch. To avoid disappointment, call your branch to reserve a card reader before making the trip.

Our accessible card readers have larger screens, bigger buttons and audio. If this may be easier for you to use you can order one in branch or by calling us.
