We’re the last branch standing in over 96 towns across the UK

In December, we kicked off a campaign to celebrate our enduring commitment to the high street.

We chose a few branches that were the last ones standing and created tailored marketing plans for each. These took into consideration the unique location, and history, of each branch, as well as the needs of its customers.

We did something a little special in Windsor

On Tuesday 27 February, we launched the Windsor Community Fund. For a limited time, we'll pledge £200 for every Windsor resident who opens a current account or savings account with us, up to a maximum of £10,000.

We'll be adding to the pot until 26 March. And the money raised will go to a cause voted for by the people of Windsor. Over 120 votes were collected on launch day alone.

Alongside the launch of the fund, the ‘one and only’ Chesney Hawkes performed in branch. And drew a crowd including the Mayor of Windsor, as well as the press.

Mandy Beech, Director of Retail Services said: ‘It’s been amazing to see customers, colleagues and the “one and only” Chesney Hawkes coming together to reaffirm our commitment to our customers and the residents of Windsor.

To think that we are the last branch
banking provider in Windsor

00:00:10:07 - 00:00:12:03
means that we have
to shout about that.

00:00:12:03 - 00:00:13:16
We have to be really proud of it.

00:00:13:16 - 00:00:17:09
So raising awareness, telling people
more about what we offer today

00:00:17:09 - 00:00:19:08
and the fact that we want to
be here in the future

00:00:19:08 - 00:00:21:03
can only be a really good thing.

00:00:22:09 - 00:00:24:12
I think it's amazing,
I’ve come here to Windsor

00:00:24:12 - 00:00:26:10
and being here for local communities.

00:00:26:10 - 00:00:27:17
I think it's unbelievable.

00:00:27:17 - 00:00:29:09
Where we're last in town.

00:00:29:09 - 00:00:32:04
and I think we're doing a brilliant job
to look after our customers

00:00:32:04 - 00:00:33:07
and local communities.

00:00:38:17 - 00:00:39:12
Wow.

00:00:39:12 - 00:00:42:07
I was part of a lot of the planning
and behind the scenes stuff.

00:00:42:07 - 00:00:46:14
So, knew it was approaching
but absolutely blown by it

00:00:47:00 - 00:00:51:09
It's just been an absolutely,
a first in Nationwide history.

00:00:51:20 - 00:00:53:01
And we’re not going anywhere.

We know face to face banking matters

Since 2015, the banks have collectively closed more than half of their branches. But we know how important face-to-face banking is.

In a recent poll, we saw that more than 50% of people would rather seek financial advice in person than online. And this number goes up when we look at 18-24-year olds – 65% of this age bracket prefer getting help in person.

That’s why we have the biggest branch network in the UK. And have extended our Branch Promise: everywhere we have a branch, we promise to still be there until at least 2026.
