Our £10,000 winner

Our Member Prize Draw winners for October took home cash prizes worth up to £100,000.

Nationwide members with a mortgage, personal savings or current account with us are automatically entered into our draw. Every month, they could be in with a chance of winning a share of the £1 million pot.

We contacted Paul from Birmingham, to see what it was like to discover he'd won £10,000.

‘Call me cynical, but I didn’t believe it at first’

Paul was stunned when we first gave him a call to let him know he was a winner.

'I got a call right out of the blue to tell me I'd won £10,000. It was ever such a quick call and I was quite gobsmacked to be truthful. Call me cynical, but I didn't believe it at first.

'I work beside my brother, so I told him about it first and then I called my wife. She didn't believe it either and told me not to count on it. We all thought it was just some sort of scam.

'But when I popped into the branch, they told me the cheque would be with me soon – and it was! So, it's all excellent.'

‘Next year’s our 10th wedding anniversary, so we’re going somewhere special’

He hopes to spend his prize money on some time abroad with the ones he loves.

'What am I going to do with the money? Well, we've done a fair bit of travelling and we usually go away for Christmas, but we haven't for the last two years because of Covid.

'Next year's our 10th wedding anniversary, so we're going somewhere special, maybe somewhere like the Maldives.

'It's great not to have to think about money and just enjoy ourselves. Fabulous!'
