Reject the increased credit card interest rate

You’ll have received a letter from us with a link to this page. We’re changing our credit card interest rates from 1 April 2024. If you’ve decided not to accept the increased interest rate and instead stay on your current interest rate, you can cancel your card here. You’ll need to do this within 75 days of the date on your letter.

What happens when you cancel your card

If you cancel your card, you won’t be able to spend or make purchases with it. This also applies to any additional cardholders.

You’ll need to pay off your remaining balance, which will be at your current interest rate. You can pay off your balance at your own pace, as long as you pay at least the monthly minimum payment.

Once your balance is cleared, your account will be closed.

Once your account has closed, you can apply for another Nationwide credit card.

If your account has been closed for less than 12 months, you will not be able to get any introductory offers.
