Can I still use the cash I have?

Yes, at the moment you can still use banknotes and coins as normal. The Bank of England will slowly bring in new currency.

Please be careful of anyone who offers to replace your cash for you. This is a scam, and it’s likely you will lose your money.

When will new banknotes and coins be in circulation?

The Bank of England announced in September that they will release images of the updated banknotes by the end of this year. They’re expected to go into circulation by mid-2024.
