Nationwide predicts over 20 million transactions as shoppers rush to finish Christmas shopping
- In the lead-up to Christmas, Nationwide is expecting 20.6 million transactions on Friday 12 and Saturday 13 December, which is 6.39% higher than the same dates in December 2024.
- A peak number of 10.7 million transactions are predicted on the 20 December as people rush to finish their festive shopping*.
- 21.16 million transactions are expected across the weekend before Christmas, which is 2.96% higher than the 20.55 million transactions forecasted in 2024**.

Nationwide makes further rate cuts across mortgage range

The Mortgage Works reduces switcher rates
The Mortgage Works will be reducing rates by up to 0.20 percentage points across selected buy-to-let, limited company buy-to-let and HMO products for existing customers. The new rates will be effective from tomorrow, Thursday 4 December.

Black Friday post-weekend spending update
- Nationwide customers made over 31.2 million transactions across the weekend, which is 5.8% higher than the weekend period in 2024, which saw 29.4 million transactions.
- Black Friday on 28th November 2025 saw a record of 11.9 million transactions, which is 8.7% higher than last year’s Black Friday on 29th November 2024, which recorded 10.9 million transactions.
