Dame Debbie Crosbie, Chief Executive: Dame Debbie Crosbie joined Nationwide as Chief Executive Officer in June 2022. Since then, she has developed the Society’s new business strategy, created a new Purpose, and refreshed its brand, marketing and member rewards. Since Debbie’s appointment, Nationwide has acquired Virgin Money to become the first mutual group to offer business banking services, and it is now the second largest provider of mortgages and savings in the UK.

Debbie has over 30 years of experience in financial services and has led many successful large-scale technology and customer service transformations. She was previously CEO at TSB bank where she created and delivered its three-year growth strategy a year early, and while acting CEO of Clydesdale Bank, Debbie led preparations for its successful demerger and subsequent initial public offering.

Debbie received a Damehood in 2025 and was appointed by the Chancellor as Women in Finance Champion from the beginning of 2026 to increase progress towards greater gender balance across UK financial services.

Debbie is a non-executive director of SSE, a leading generator of renewables and flexible energy and one of the world’s fastest-growing electricity networks companies.
