One of the UK’s most popular – and tasty – student accounts is about to end its incentives for 2025

Nationwide’s FlexStudent account, which offers £100 in cash, £120 in Just Eat vouchers, and an interest-free overdraft of up to £3,000, has quickly become the go-to account for many freshers across the UK – already exceeding last year’s sales (see product breakdown below). Given its popularity, its reminding students the last date to apply to have access to the incentives is 29 October 2025.

To receive the full incentive package, students must open a FlexStudent account by midnight on 29th October and deposit £500 by 12 December 2025. (see full eligibility criteria here -  www.nationwide.co.uk/studentoffer).

Nationwide celebrated the launch of this year’s FlexStudent by teaming up with TV personality Olivia Attwood and social media star Joe Baggs to create ‘NationFried’ – a pop-up fry-up café that toured university campuses in Cardiff, Manchester, and Glasgow. The campaign served up free breakfasts, budgeting tips, and a side of laughs, helping students start their university life with a full belly and a full wallet.

Olivia Attwood and Joe Baggs dished out fry-ups and financial wisdom at the NationFried café.

FlexStudent breakdown for 2025:

  • Cashback: students will receive £100 into their FlexStudent account within 14 calendar days of crediting it by at least £500 by 12 December 2025 – e.g., the first instalment of their student loan (£500 doesn’t need to be a one-off transaction).
  • Just Eat vouchers: eligible account openings will receive a registration code and can access the £10 voucher code every month for the first 12 months, via a voucher portal. These can be used online. Access to the portal will be provided within 14 days of the student becoming eligible.
  • Arranged overdraft: access to an interest-free, fee-free, flexible overdraft throughout a student’s studies (subject to status), where they can set borrowing limits. Students can request up to £1,000 in the first year, up to £2,000 in their second year and a maximum of £3,000 in year three (accounts can be held beyond three years with the maximum £3,000 overdraft). They’ll need to pay in at least £500 each term, keep up with bill payments and stay within their arranged overdraft limit.
  • Extra vouchers for referral: Students can also bag an extra £40 of Just Eat vouchers for successfully referring up to two friends (£20 a time), while their friend also pockets £20.
  • Commission-free purchases and cash withdrawals abroad: FlexStudent account holders will not pay any Nationwide fees for using their card abroad for making purchases or withdrawing cash, giving them peace of mind when travelling.
  • Access to the FlexGraduate current account: Those with a FlexStudent account will have exclusive access to FlexGraduate – a post-university current account with an interest-free, fee-free arranged overdraft designed to help students find their feet after university, allowing them time to pay off their overdraft once their course has finished.

Fred Powell, Head of Product at Nationwide Building Society, said: “Last year students loved our FlexStudent offer, so much so that we attracted more than a quarter of the student current account market. Given its popularity, we’ve brought it back for a second year and made it bigger, better, and even more rewarding. That’s why we’re delighted to see that even more students have chosen Nationwide as their Student banking provider this year.”
