Nationwide has relaunched its home insurance offering and now offers two cover levels – Enhanced and Essentials – to give customers greater flexibility around how they choose to cover their properties.
The launch comes after Britain’s biggest building society appointed leading home insurer, Aviva, as its new home insurance underwriter.
The new home insurance product has been rated by Defaqto, the independent financial research company, with Nationwide’s Enhanced Home Insurance achieving a 5 Star rating, while the Essentials Home Insurance is rated 3 Star.
There are no charges or fees for customers paying the premium monthly, meaning they will pay the same total amount as those who choose to make one annual payment. There are also no cancellation charges or fees to make changes on their Nationwide policy.

The Enhanced cover level is aimed at customers who want more comprehensive home insurance and offers unlimited buildings and contents cover.
Nationwide Essentials Home Insurance1
For those who require less cover, Nationwide offers an Essential policy. This provides cover of up to £1 million for buildings claims and up to £50,000 for contents.
Darren Black, Nationwide’s Head of Protection and Insurances, said: “We know there isn’t a one-size-fits-all solution for home insurance, which is why we’re delighted to be relaunching our home insurance offering with Aviva. Some people will want the reassurance of having the best quality cover to protect their home and their belongings, while others would prefer to have a lower level of cover that meets their needs at a lower cost. By offering two distinct options – Enhanced and Essentials – we are providing our customers with the flexibility to choose the level of cover and premium cost that best suits their needs.”
