Nationwide increases savings rates

In response to today’s Bank Rate rise, Nationwide is announcing increases of up to 0.25% across its variable rate savings accounts. The changes are effective from 1 December 2026.

Key savings changes:

  • On the limited access range, Nationwide’s 1 Year Triple Access Saver and 1 Year Triple Access ISA will now pay 3.55% (increased by 0.25%) for both existing and new customers.1
  • Members saving in Reward Single Access ISA will see rates increased by 0.25% to 3.05%, while Reward Saver and Reward ISA will see rates increased by 0.25% to 3.00%.
  • To continue encouraging building good savings habits from a young age, Nationwide is increasing rates on its children’s accounts by 0.25%. For example, Child Trust Fund, Junior ISA and Future Saver all now pay 3.05%, while Smart Limited Access will have a rate of 2.75%.
  • The rates on Nationwide’s instant access accounts will rise by up to 0.25%. For example, Flex Instant Saver will rise to 2.50%.
  • A list of products and rate changes can be found below (see Notes to Editor).

Savers signed up to Nationwide’s SavingsWatch will be notified of any rate changes impacting them and highlighting any new products Nationwide launches. The SavingsWatch notifications for these changes will occur on 1 December 2026.

Virgin Money key changes:

Virgin Money will also be increasing rates across its off-sale variable rate savings accounts by up to 0.25%, effective from 1 December 2026. A table of products and rate changes can be found below (see Notes to Editor).

Pella Frost, Nationwide’s Director of Everyday Banking, said: “Supporting our savers is important to us, which is why we have carefully reviewed our range and are increasing rates on the vast majority of our variable rate savings accounts following the Bank Rate change. We regularly review our rates, taking account of the wider market and the value we offer. These changes follow recent increases to our fixed rate products and the launch of our market-leading Member Exclusive Bond. We’d encourage customers to speak to us about our full range of savings products, whether in branch, online or over the phone, so that we can help them find the right account for their needs.”

Mortgage changes:

Following the increase in the Bank of England Bank Rate on 5 November, mortgage members who are on the Nationwide’s Standard Mortgage Rate (SMR) products will see a rise of 0.25% to 6.74%, effective from 1 December. At the same time (1 December), existing Nationwide members with a tracker mortgage will see their rate rise in line with the Bank Rate increase (0.25%), as outlined in their mortgage agreement.2
