Changes to some of the insurances on your credit card

As a building society, we’re committed to making sure each of our accounts meets the need of our members. We do this by continually looking at the way they’re used, and we’ve noticed that only a very small number of people access or use the free insurances. Because of this, we’ve decided to remove these insurances, and put the cost of providing them to better use elsewhere within the Society. 

This change will take place on 1 March 2018 – but, until then, you’ll still be able to make use of these insurances if you need to. You’ll find more details below – including what to do about any items that are already covered under these insurances.

Other changes

Following some regulatory and legal updates, your credit card agreement changed on 11 January 2018. We also refreshed a few of the existing clauses to clarify them and make them easier to read as well as introducing a few new ones.

Frequently asked questions

The free insurance products are being withdrawn from the 1 March 2018. This means that purchases on or after this date will not be covered.

Extended Warranty cover
Claims can be made up until the expiry date on the policy certificate.

New registrations for Extended Warranty can be made on any purchases up until the 28th February 2018. Items must be registered within 60 days of purchase. All registered products will continue to be covered up until the expiry date on the policy certificate.

Purchase Protection cover
Claims can be made on purchases up until 100 days from the date of purchase, with the last qualifying date of purchase being 28th February 2018.

Travel Accident cover
Travel which is booked on or before 28th February 2018 will qualify for this cover, provided the trip starts on or before 28 February 2019. Claim forms need to be returned within 90 days of the date of the accident.
