Log in to the Internet Bank, our Banking app, or go into branch to apply for, amend or remove an arranged overdraft on your current account. See the funds available within 2 working days. We'll send a letter to confirm your arranged overdraft in the post, and review your arranged overdraft every 6 months. You must be over 18 years old to apply.

Things to be aware of

Maximum amount you can apply for - if your chosen amount is above the maximum arranged overdraft facility for your account, you'll see a message showing the amount you can apply for. You'll then then be given the option to apply for this amount, or cancel your arranged overdraft application

Increasing your limit frequently - this is recorded on your credit reference file and may affect your ability to get credit in the future

Going over your arranged overdraft limit - this means you then have an unarranged overdraft which hasn't been agreed with us

Our decision - we base our decision on your individual circumstances, by looking at things like:

  • your income
  • your credit score
  • how you use your current account with us
  • your employment and marital status, and whether you have dependents

Before you apply

Please think carefully if applying for an overdraft is the right option for you at this time. Other borrowing options may better suit your circumstances.

To apply, you’ll need to be confident you’ll be able to repay whatever you borrow. Be aware that changes to your income may affect your ability to repay.
