You can now set up new payees using our Banking app.

Make sure you have these details ready before you start:

The payee's details, including their:

  • Name or business name
  • Account number (8 digits)
  • Sort code (6 digits)
  • Payee description (optional)

The payment details, including the:

  • Amount
  • Payment reference number

You'll also need your Nationwide card reader.

Here's what to do

Step 1

Open the Banking app and choose the account you want to pay from. Then tap ‘Pay or move money’.

Step 2

Tap ‘A new person or company’. Enter the new payee’s details, your own payee description and payment reference. Tap ‘Continue’.

Step 3

Make sure you’re happy with the details, enter the amount then tap ‘I confirm that the details are correct’ followed by ‘Make payment’. You’ll be asked to use your card reader – follow the instructions on screen.

Step 4

You’ll see ‘Your payment request has been received’. This confirms payment is being processed. This should take no longer than two hours. Payments made after 2:30pm will be processed the next working day.

Pay faster with Paym

You can also make and receive payments securely using the Paym service within our Banking app – without setting up a payee first. When sending a payment using Paym, there’s a limit of £250 a day on each account.

How to sign up for Paym
