More about claiming

How to check you're covered

Your policy schedule and policy wording are the best places to check - they’ll list everything you’re covered for. You can log in to My Home Insurance or call us free on 0800 145 60 60 to get a copy.

What excess will you need to pay?

We’ll ask you to pay a certain amount towards most claims – this is your excess. You can check what it’ll be in your policy schedule. To get a copy, log in to My Home Insurance or call us free on 0800 145 60 60.

You won't have to pay an excess when you use Home Emergency Cover.

What you need and what we'll ask you when you claim

You don't need to have your policy number to hand - we'll be able to find your records using your name and postcode.

We'll ask you to tell us as much as you can about what happened and when. The following things are also useful:

  • Crime reference numbers
  • Photos of the item you're claiming for and/or the damage
  • Receipts to show how much you paid originally
  • Quotes from suppliers so we can see how much it might cost to repair or replace everything.

But don’t worry if you don’t have everything straightaway – we can add them later.

What happens after you've contacted us?

Submit your form online before 12pm and we'll be in touch the same day. If your claim is received after 12pm we'll contact you by 12pm the next working day (8am to 8pm Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm Saturday) to let you know how your claim is progressing. If you call us to claim, we’ll start working on it straightaway.

We aim to settle simple claims of up to £1,000 within 24 hours. If it’s more complex, your dedicated claims handler will guide you through it.
