Help with your policy

Nationwide Home Insurance is underwritten by Royal & Sun Alliance Insurance plc. Call if you need to:

  • Add or remove cover
  • Update your details (name, address or something else)
  • Change how you pay
  • Cancel your policy
  • Ask us a question about Home Insurance

There’s no admin fee for updating your cover at any time.

  • We're open 8am to 8pm Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm Saturday, and 10am to 5pm on Sunday

Having an emergency?

You can always get hold of us in an emergency. We use a company called CET to provide Home Emergency Cover, so we’re able to help if:

  • Your home is unsafe or insecure
  • Your home or contents are being damaged
  • You’ve lost your main source of heating, lighting or water

If you’ve added Home Emergency Cover to your policy, you’re covered for repairs up to £500. If you haven’t, we can still help you get the advice and support you need, but you’ll need to pay for any repairs.

Making a claim

  1. Check your policy schedule

    Make sure you’re covered and check how much excess you’ll need to pay (it’ll be £50 or more). Call if you’re not sure.
  2. Gather information about your claim

    Dates, times, crime reference numbers, receipts, quotes from suppliers, photos – these will all help us.
  3. Call us or start your claim online

  4. We’ll start working on your claim

    We aim to settle claims of up to £1,000 within 24 hours. If it’s a more complex claim, your dedicated claims handler will guide you through it.

Submit your form before 12pm and we'll be in touch the same day. If your claim is received after 12pm we'll contact you by 12pm the next working day (8am to 8pm Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm Saturday) to let you know how your claim is progressing.

Use your Legal Cover

Our Legal Cover is administered by Cigna Legal Protection.

You can use it if you want to know more about your rights or the legal aspects of a situation. It’ll also help cover the costs if you take legal action because you (or someone in your family) have been injured, if there’s a dispute over land that belongs to you, or if there’s an issue with your contract of employment.

If you’ve added Legal Cover to your policy, you’re covered for legal assistance worth up to £50,000. If you haven’t, we’ll still be able to put you in touch with people that can help, but you’ll need to pay for all legal costs.
