How do I cancel a recurring card payment?

A recurring card payment is where you give a company your debit or credit card details so that they can take regular payments from you, for example once a month or each year.

Contact the company that’s taking the payment

You can cancel a recurring card payment up until the day before the next payment is due.

If you speak to them directly, you can end your subscription/membership at the same time, or agree on a different way for you to pay any money you owe.

Make a note of the date you cancelled and what you agreed – get it in writing if you can.

Still having problems? Ask us to cancel it for you

We can block a recurring card payment within 48 hours. If the payment leaves your account after you’ve asked us to cancel it, but before we’ve had a chance to block it, we’ll refund the money back into your account.

When you contact us, please tell us:

  • the company name or payment you’d like to stop
  • the last date they took money from your account
  • if you’ve previously tried to cancel the payment.
