How do I cancel a Direct Debit?

Notify the company you’re paying before cancelling

A Direct Debit is an agreement between you and a business (such as a phone company or a gym). As they set up the Direct Debit, you’ll need to let them know before you cancel, or you could be charged for missed payments.

Use the Banking app

  1. Log in to the Banking app.
  2. Select the account the Direct Debit is taken from.
  3. From the bottom menu, tap ‘More’.
  4. Select ‘View and cancel payments’.
  5. Tap the Direct Debit you wish to cancel.
  6. Tap ‘Cancel this Direct Debit’.

Cancel it in the Internet Bank

  1. Log in to the Internet Bank.
  2. Click on the 'Move money' tab at the top of the page.
  3. Under 'Manage payees', choose the account the Direct Debit is taken from, then click 'Go'.
  4. Select the ‘Direct Debits’ option near the top of the page (under the account number).
  5. Find the right payment and click 'Cancel this Direct Debit'.
  6. Click ‘Yes’ to cancel the Direct Debit.
