If you’re worried about future payments or if you can’t afford to make your monthly payments now, please call us.

Get in touch with us as soon as possible. We’ll talk to you about your current situation and work out a way forward.

An arrangement is a payment plan, based on what you can afford, to help you work through your financial difficulties. It will be recorded on your credit file which will show that you are working with your creditor(s) rather than missing payments completely. It’s important not to ignore debt and miss payments as this could put you in a worse position.

Get in touch and we will look at your situation to make sure your arrangement still works for you.

A creditor is a person or organisation that you owe money to.

If you are struggling to keep up with your payments, it's important to let your creditors know. They may be able to help you by looking at your situation and whether the debt can be made more manageable for you. You can also contact a free debt advice provider (we have listed some on the main Money Worries page) who will be able to look at all of your debts from all of your creditors and support you in finding the best solution for your circumstances.

If you don’t contact your creditors or a debt advice provider, they can’t help you and, as a last resort, may turn to legal proceedings.

You may wish to consider paying your debts, because the amount of interest you pay on your debts will usually be higher than the interest you earn on your savings.

We share information relating to your accounts, including missed payments and arrangements. Find out more about looking after your credit rating.

We regularly assess your account and situation which may result in changing your arranged overdraft limit. We have the right to reduce or withdraw your arranged overdraft and ask you to pay it back in full at any time.

We will ask you to get your arranged overdraft down to a new limit, and will let you know the date by which we want you to do this. If you don’t think you can afford it, call us and we’ll see if we can bring it down gradually.

Think carefully before securing other debts against your home. Your mortgage is secured on your home, which you could lose if you do not keep up your mortgage repayments.
