Please note:

  • All applicants must be UK residents.
  • Children under 7 will need a parent or guardian to apply on their behalf.
  • Children aged 7-17 wishing to apply for themselves will need to open the account in branch.
  • Due to identification requirements, we can only open an account online for a parent if the parent and child are existing Nationwide customers*. (You can still apply in branch if this is not the case.)

*Customers either have a Nationwide current account, savings account, credit card or mortgage. Loans and investment products are not included.

Before you apply for your child’s account online, make sure you have ready your child's and your Nationwide current or savings account numbers. When you open your child’s account, you’ll need to put at least £1 in it.
