Please note:

  • All applicants must be UK residents.
  • Children under 7 will need an adult to apply on their behalf.
  • Children aged 7-17 wishing to apply for themselves will need to apply in branch.
  • Young people between 16 and 17 will need to apply for themselves.
  • Due to identification requirements, we can only open an account online for an adult if the adult and child are existing Nationwide customers*. (You can still apply in branch if this is not the case.) 

*Customers either have a Nationwide current account, savings account, credit card or mortgage. Loans and investment products are not included.

Before you apply for the child’s account online, make sure you have ready the child's and your Nationwide current or savings account numbers. When you open the child’s account, you’ll need to put at least £1 in it.
