Power of football

Two young people are the joint winners of the Nationwide Mutual Respect Award for June.

Olivia Hancock is 15 years old from Lutterworth, and Bayley Walklate is 9 years old from Middlewich. They received praise for doing excellent work in their local communities using the 'power of football'.

The judges picked two winners this month as they couldn't choose between them.

Saving lives

In June, Bayley ran a marathon (26.2miles) over 30 days. He raised £650 to buy a portable automatic defibrillator for his under 9s team, Middlewich Town Football Club.

The team takes the defibrillator to all matches. It's a vital piece of equipment that may save someone's life - a child playing or a spectator watching.

According to first aid training organisation, First Aid for Life, around 30,000 people are struck by sudden cardiac arrest outside of hospital environments in the UK.

Girl power

Since the age of 7, Olivia has used her love of football to help raise thousands of pounds for different charities.

She has campaigned for every primary school to have a girls-only football team. Olivia delivered a speech to European football governing body UEFA and took part in filming for FIFA, highlighting her incredible work helping girls in football.

Olivia has also set up 'Girls play football day' on November 8 every year. People from all around the world take part, either in person or on social media.

The Mutual Respect Award is part of our partnership with the Football Association's Respect campaign. It aims to make grassroots football more respectful and positive.

Every month, you can nominate someone from your football club who has gone above and beyond to promote respect on or off the pitch.

The target is to engage with one million parents and coaches in The FA Respect Campaign as part of our three-year partnership.
