Community

Simon Mahomed from Chorley, Lancashire is our Nationwide Mutual Respect Award winner for December 2021.

The award recognises contributions, achievements and behaviour in grassroots football across the country by young players, coaches, teams, parents and referees.

Simon has won this award due to his work with his local football associations and their Diversity and Inclusion campaign.

He is also a great supporter of the Rainbow Laces campaign. The hope is that wearing the laces will contribute to conversations that will help ensure LGBTQ+ feel more welcome in sporting environments.

Simon has also spoken out against poor practices and negative social media comments across the network.
