Tax-free monthly pay outs
Monthly pay outs are tax free. Cover available for up to 60% of your monthly earnings before tax, capped at £2,000 a month.
Affordable cover with short-term pay outs
Pay outs start after a waiting period of 4 weeks – and are in arrears.

- If you're self-employed when you claim, and have been earning for less than 12 months, cover will only be available for up to 35% of your monthly earnings, capped at £2,000.

Any policy you take out will end on your 60th birthday. However, our Income Protection Benefit can provide cover until you're 70 years old.

To apply for Illness and Injury Insurance
You need to be:
- Aged 18 to 54 years old
- Employed or self-employed and working at least 16 hours a week
- A UK resident
- Registered with a UK GP for at least 2 years
- A Nationwide member.
You’re a Nationwide member if you have a mortgage, savings or current account.
