My current account balance and available balance are different
It's normal for your account balance and available balance to be different. This is usually because a transaction can take 7 days to go into or out of your account. You can check your pending transactions on the Internet Bank and Banking app. We can also help you over the phone and in branch.
Debit card payments can make your available balance lower
When you use your debit card to pay for something, it shows up straightaway in your current account as a pending transaction. This reduces the available balance, but not your account balance. That’s because it hasn’t left your account yet. The money is reserved, ready for the company to take.
A cheque you’ve paid in will make your account balance higher
While your balance is higher, the money won’t be available until the cheque has cleared.
You can see your pending debit card transactions in the Banking app
- Log into the Banking app
- Tap on the account you’d like to view
- Tap View pending transactions
Note:
You can check your account balance and available balance in the Internet Bank, but you won't be able to see your pending transactions.
