Which housing project should we fund?

The UK is facing a housing crisis. As the cost of living keeps rising, more and more people are being priced out of decent accommodation.

Bringing affordable and appropriate housing into our local communities is becoming increasingly important, and making it happen will take a group effort.

With the help and support of our members, we're tackling the housing crisis by giving grants of up to £50,000 to support local housing projects in regions all over the UK.

With community at the forefront of everything we do, we're calling on our members to vote for the housing project they think works best for them in Scotland, Northern Ireland, Wales and the West Midlands.

Voting closes on Friday 20 July. Have your say and make a difference.

What is the community grants programme?

Our community grants programme brings communities together to deliver long-lasting solutions to local housing problems, from better housing for those in need to getting homeless people off the streets and into homes.

To do that, we'll provide grants, support, contacts and expertise to charities and other organisations tackling housing issues in their communities.

Each UK region will have a Community Board of members, colleagues and local charities. They'll shortlist applications and manage the programmes in their region.

Our members will then decide through a vote which projects should benefit from our contributions.

We're making £500,000 available to each region across the each year. Each project will have the opportunity to receive a grant of between £25,000 to £50,000.

What kind of housing projects will be included in the programme?

Projects can range from preventing people from being homeless, helping people into a home and supporting people to remain in their homes.

Can I vote?

You can, if you're a Nationwide member. You have one vote per region, so please make it count!

Only members can vote because the money – and the whole community funding grants – is thanks to them.

Our members decided that Nationwide should donate at least 1% of its pre-tax profits to good causes every year, and we're focusing this on the important issue of housing.

How do I vote?

Let us know which projects should receive our support by voting for one project from the shortlist.

Vote for your favourite housing project now and make a real difference to those in need. Voting closes on Friday 20 July, so don't delay.

What happens next?

We'll be bringing funding opportunities to other regions in the UK later this year. Watch out for more details.

If you're a Nationwide member, and that includes all our account holders, you could also get involved by joining one of the Community Boards, which we're setting up in every region of the UK.

Nationwide was founded so people could work together to get decent housing. Our mission has never been more relevant than it is today. With your help, we can make sure even more people have a place to call home. Vote now.
