Nationwide’s poem of the month for November

Recognising different voices from across the UK, November’s poem is by proud Welshmen Aneirin Karadog and Eurig Salisbury and is titled ‘Weithie, sdim isie geirie’ (Sometimes, we don’t need words).

Weithie, sdim isie geirie

Weithie, sdim isie geirie
Weithie, dim ond geirie sy isie.

Weithie, ma gwbod yn ddigon
Weithie, does dim digon yn gwbod.

Weithie, wy’n gwbod be ti’n meddwl
Weithie dwi’n meddwl, be ti’n wbod?!

Weithie, sa i’n siŵr os wy’n cytuno
Dwi’n cytuno, ond sai’n siŵr

Weithie, ti’n unig sy’n deall
Weithie, dwi’n deall dy fod ti yn unig.

Ond dwi’n gwbod y byddi di bob tro
Yna pan fydda’i dy angen di, sbo.

Sometimes, we don’t need words (translation)

Sometimes, we don’t need words,
Sometimes, words are all we need.

Sometimes, knowing’s enough,
But sometimes not enough know.

Sometimes I know what you’re thinking,
Sometimes I think, what does he know?!

Sometimes I’m not sure I agree,
Yeah you’re right, I think…

Sometimes, you’re the only one who gets it,
I get that you sometimes feel alone.

But I always, always know, it's true,
That the one who'll always be there is you.
