How do I re-register for Internet Banking?
To re-register, go to www.nationwide.co.uk and choose 'Register' underneath 'Internet Banking Sign On' near the top left of the screen.
You'll receive a reminder of your customer number and a new passnumber in the post within 3-5 working days.
Important: Once you re-register, you must not sign on until you receive your new details. Re-registering cancels your existing sign on details so if you use them your account will be locked out, which will also invalidate the new details that are on the way to you in the post. .

You can find your account number:
On your card:
- on a FlexAccount, CashBuilder, InvestDirect or SmartAccount your account number is printed along the bottom of the card. Take care not to confuse this with the large card number printed in the centre as this changes every time a new card is issued
- on a Credit Card or Gold Card your 16 digit account number is printed across the middle of your card e.g. 44935XXXXXXXXXXX
On your statement:
- for FlexAccount, CashBuilder, InvestDirect and SmartAccount your account number is at the top of your statement
- on Credit Card and Gold Card statements your 16 digit account number is on the top right corner and also on the detachable Bank Giro credit slip at the foot of the statement, e.g. 44935XXXXXXXXXXX
- on Mortgage year end statements your account number is on the top left hand side
- on your FlexAccount statement your account number may show an extra ‘6’ in front. You don’t need to include this when registering your FlexAccount.
On your Savings Account Passbook:
- your account number is printed on the inside of the front cover of your passbook
On your savings account bond certificate:
- your account number is printed on the front of your certificate
On your notice of mortgage rate change:
- your account number will be displayed within the 'Payment Details' box at the bottom of the page
What do I need to know if I’m registering using a foreign address?
When prompted, you must select ‘registering using a foreign address’ as the ‘find address’ search only works for UK addresses.
It will take longer than 5 working days for your sign on details to reach you as we’re reliant on the foreign postal service.
If you have a Visa debit card it's likely we'll issue you with a Card Reader.
If your current Visa debit card was issued before November 2007 we'll also need to send you a new card. Depending where you live this may take longer to arrive than published timescales. If you live abroad you may be asked to contact us to confirm receipt so we can activate it for use.
If you don’t have the correct card and Card Reader you may not be able to carry out transactions on our Internet Banking service. It may take a little longer than published times to get your card and Card Reader to you as we're reliant on local postal services.
Find out more about Card Reader security and how it affects you.
