SavingsWatch service

SavingsWatch

If you've registered for SavingsWatch, when we change your savings interest rate up or down, we'll let you know by email or SMS text alert – you choose how. And, if we launch a new savings account, we'll tell you about that too, by email.

You can register using our online form, through the Internet Bank, via MySave or in branch. Find out how to register for SavingsWatch and eligibility for the service below.

  • hold a savings account with us (excluding clubs, charities and organisation's accounts)
  • be aged 16 years or older
  • have a valid email address for receiving emails
  • have a valid mobile phone number, if you want to receive SMS alerts.

Please note: When you register for SavingsWatch, you automatically opt in to receive marketing communications about SavingsWatch and other products and services from us by letter, telephone, email and SMS - even if you've previously let us know that you do not wish to receive marketing communications.

How will I know the SavingsWatch email is genuinely from Nationwide Building Society?

  • Our emails will come from Nationwide@nationwidebuildingsociety-savingswatch.co.uk
  • We'll never ask for any of your personal details
  • If it’s an update on a new account, the email will contain your postcode – if you have a foreign postcode, this will say ‘N/A’
  • If it’s a rate change notification on your savings account, the email always shows the last 4 digits of your account number (i.e. xxxxx5678) and your postcode.

More than one account holder or account

  • You'll get a separate notification for each account held with us.
  • If you have a joint account, only the account holder who has subscribed for the SavingsWatch service will receive the email.

Charges for SavingsWatch SMS while abroad

If you're abroad when you receive a SavingsWatch SMS text message and are 'roaming' (that means using a host network for connectivity when you're abroad), you may be charged for this. The cost depends on your tariff; you may want to check your tariff so you're aware of any costs if you were to receive a text whilst abroad.

Power of Attorney using SavingsWatch

Attorneys registered with us can subscribe for SavingsWatch on behalf of the account holder, but it’s the account holder’s mobile number or email address that’s notified.
