If you're interested in finding out about changes that might affect the way you save why not sign up for SavingsWatch? 

Quite simply, with SavingsWatch, if we change your savings interest rate, up or down, we'll let you know by email or SMS - you choose how. And if we launch a new savings account, we'll tell you about that too, by email.

  • Your savings rate changes due to a change in the Bank of England Base Rate
  • Your savings rate changes due to a change initiated by Nationwide
  • Your savings rate changes due to the introductory bonus rate expiring
  • We launch a new savings account

    How to register for SavingsWatch

    We just need you to hold a savings account with us (excluding clubs, charities and organisations accounts), be aged 16 or over and hold and provide a valid email address; and a valid mobile telephone number, if you want to receive rate change notifications by SMS. 

    Please note: when you register for SavingsWatch you are consenting to receive marketing communications by letter, telephone, email, SMS and other electronic means relating to SavingsWatch and other Nationwide products and services. Even if you had previously notified Nationwide that you did not wish to receive marketing communications.

    Before you begin your registration you will need:

    • The account number of your existing savings account
    • A valid email address
    • A valid phone number
    • Please make sure you have read the full terms and conditions

    Internet Bank registration

    To register online

    You'll need to be registered for the Internet Bank:

    • Log in to the Internet Bank
    • On the View Accounts summary screen, select SavingsWatch from the common activities drop down list next to your savings account balance
    • Select your preferred method of rate notification, agree to the SavingsWatch terms and conditions and click 'subscribe'

    MySave registration

    To register with MySave

    You'll need to be registered for the MySave Online Savings website

    • Log in to the MySave Online Savings Site
    • Select SavingsWatch in the left hand navigation bar
    • Register for your preferred method of notification for rate change messages
    • Agree to the terms and conditions and click submit

    In branch registration

    To register in a branch

    Visit your local branch where one of our Customer Representatives will be happy to help you. You will need:

    • The account number of your existing savings account
    • A valid email address
    • A valid mobile phone number (if you want to receive rate change notifications by SMS)
    • Please make sure you have read the full terms and conditions

    After you have registered...

    Once you have subscribed to the service you will receive a welcome message. Once you have received your welcome message you'll be able to enjoy the convenience of receiving notifications of interest rate changes we make on savings accounts you hold, by email or SMS. We'll also send you an email if we launch a new savings account.

    To subscribe to SavingsWatch you must meet the following criteria:


    • hold and provide a valid email address
    • hold and provide a valid mobile telephone number, if you want to receive SavingsWatch rate updates via SMS
    • be a Nationwide saver* aged 16 or over

    *You must hold a savings account excluding clubs, charities and organisations accounts.

    Will I receive notifications about other Nationwide accounts? - This link is used to show and hide related content.

    SavingsWatch provides notifications about rate changes we make to our savings accounts and about new savings accounts we launch that might suit your needs better. Notifications will not be sent in relation to other Nationwide products such as Insurance or Mortgages.

    How can I un-subscribe to SavingsWatch? - This link is used to show and hide related content.

    You can unsubscribe by:


    • By email : clicking the opt out link contained in the SavingsWatch notifications sent via email (this will be at the bottom of all SavingsWatch emails)
    • By SMS : Text STOP to short code 85345 if you are receiving rate notifications via SMS  this will be at the end of all SavingsWatch SMS messages)
    • By the Logging in to the Nationwide Internet Bank or MySave Online Savings Site
    • By visiting us in branch

    How will I know the SavingsWatch email is genuinely from Nationwide Building Society? - This link is used to show and hide related content.

    E-mails sent from Nationwide Building Society will come from Nationwide@nationwidebuildingsociety-savingswatch.co.uk. We'll never ask for any of your personal details so you can ensure these are genuine.


    • Email - for savings account notifications, your e-mail will come from Nationwide@nationwidebuildingsociety-savingswatch.co.uk and will display your postcode*
    • Email - for rate changes notifications on your savings account, your email will come from Nationwide@nationwidebuildingsociety-savingswatch.co.uk and will always display the last 4 digits of your account number (i.e. xxxxx5678) and will display your postcode

    *If you hold a foreign postcode please note that this may show N/A in the body of your email

    How can I change my notification preferences or contact details? - This link is used to show and hide related content.

    You can change your notification preferences, e-mail address or mobile telephone number, by Logging in to the Nationwide Internet Bank or MySave Online Savings Site. Alternatively, you can visit us in branch.

    Can I subscribe to SavingsWatch immediately after I open a savings account? - This link is used to show and hide related content.

    How quickly will I receive a SavingsWatch notification? - This link is used to show and hide related content.

    You'll receive your welcome email or SMS within 5 working days of subscribing to SavingsWatch.

    Will I be charged if I receive a SavingsWatch SMS while abroad? - This link is used to show and hide related content.

    If you're abroad when you receive a SavingsWatch SMS and are 'roaming' (that means using a host network for connectivity when you're abroad) you may be charged for this - this will depend on your tariff, therefore please ensure you check with your mobile phone provider before you go.

    If I hold a joint savings account and subscribe to SavingsWatch, will all account holders receive notifications? - This link is used to show and hide related content.

    No, only the account holder who has subscribed for the SavingsWatch service will receive SavingsWatch notifications.

    Can an Attorney acting under a Power of Attorney subscribe for SavingsWatch? - This link is used to show and hide related content.

    Yes, Attorneys acting under a valid Power of Attorney which is registered with us will be able to subscribe for SavingsWatch on behalf of the account holder. SavingsWatch notifications will be sent to the mobile number/email address held for the account holder.

    I have more than one Nationwide savings account, does this mean I will receive multiple rate notifications by email or SMS? - This link is used to show and hide related content.

    Yes, if you hold more than one Nationwide savings account you will receive a separate notification for each savings account should we change the rate on more than one account.

    I have registered for SavingsWatch but I've not received any notifications? - This link is used to show and hide related content.
