What’s the difference between a current account and a savings account?

Wherever you keep your money, a good place is an account in a bank or building society.

There are two main types. A current account and a savings account. What works for you?

Does your employer need to pay your wages straight into an account? Do you need to buy things online, over the phone, or using chip and pin wherever you see the Visa sign? If so, you may like the convenience of a current account.

Or, do you want to earn interest to help save up for something? Looking to buy something big, even really big? Then it looks like you might like a savings account.

And if you need the convenience of a current account and also a savings account to save up for something, then you could have both.

It's your money, to manage your way.
