What is porting?

Porting is where you take your existing Nationwide mortgage product with you to your new property.

Porting means you don't need to worry about finding a new mortgage product as it'll stay the same, including the end date of any deal period (subject to acceptance).


Am I eligible to port my mortgage?

Most of our mortgages are portable. You can find information on porting in your mortgage offer documents, or call us on 0800 171 23 70.


We offer porting as an advised service. This means you'll need to apply for porting with one of our Mortgage Consultants over the phone or in branch. It's not currently possible to port your mortgage online.


How can I port my mortgage?

Step 1

Check your original offer to make sure you have the porting feature. Most of our products are portable.

Step 2

Decide the amount you want to port (the same or less) of your mortgage or if you want to borrow more.

Step 3

Check if Early Repayment Charges (ERCs) are payable. Generally ERCs apply if you only port some of your mortgage, or there's a delay between the sale of your existing property and the purchase of your new one.

Step 4

Make an appointment with a Mortgage Consultant by calling us on 0800 171 23 70 or visiting us in branch. Lines are open Monday to Friday 8am to 6pm.
