Mortgage payment holiday - FAQs

When you apply for your payment holiday you’ll be given the option to select the date you wish the payment holiday to begin.

Yes, we'll let you know your payment holiday is going to end.

It's important to know the payment holiday won't change the length of your mortgage, but your monthly repayments will increase. This is due to the payments not being made during your payment holiday.

If you’ve overpaid and built up an overpayment reserve you can choose to underpay for a period of time (up to the value of the reserve). If you’d like to arrange to underpay, please call us on 0800 30 20 11.

If you’re worried about making your monthly payments give us a call on 0800 464 30 30 so we can discuss the options available to you.

If your Nationwide mortgage was reserved on or before 3 March 2010 and you’ve since moved home and taken your mortgage deal with you (porting), you’ll still be able to apply for a payment holiday.

No, if you’ve switched to a new mortgage deal since 3 March 2010, you won’t be able to apply for a payment holiday

If you have more than one mortgage account and you meet the eligibility criteria, payment holidays are available only on those accounts which have this feature. Please check your mortgage offer for more details.
