Letting your property - FAQs

You'll need to complete a permission to let form. You can order the form by calling us on 0800 30 20 11 or by visiting us in branch. The form, sent to you by post, will need completing, be signed by all borrowers and returned to:

Remember, you should also talk to your insurance provider to find out if letting your property will affect your property insurance policy.

If you've already started letting your property you’ll need to complete a permission to let form as soon as possible. You can get a form by calling us on 0800 30 20 11 or by visiting us in branch.

Your mortgage terms and conditions explain that you need permission from us to let your property before the let starts and any breach in these conditions could lead to further action being taken.

If you're facing payment difficulties (even if you are not behind with your mortgage payments) please talk to us as soon as possible on 0800 464 30 30 (Monday to Friday, 9am - 5pm) as this makes it easier for us to help you. When you wish to end the letting agreement, please write to us with your new postal address so we can update our records. If you still need an alternative postal address, please include confirmation of this and what the current situation is regarding the property. Your letter must be signed by all borrowers and sent to:-

If you're a member of the British Armed Forces and letting your property we won’t charge the additional letting interest rate. We’ll require proof you’re in the British Armed Forces and this must be provided with the form. However, please remember that you’ll need to let us know if this situation changes. This doesn’t include employees of the Ministry of Defence (MOD).

If you're a member of the British Armed Forces you’ll still need to apply or renew your agreement to let your property using our permission to let form. To request a form please call us on 0800 30 20 11.

If your property is already let, you can’t take further borrowing, switch to a new Nationwide product, change borrower or change your mortgage term.
