Change your name

To change your name, fill in our change of name form and either visit a branch or post it to us with the relevant original documents. You can do it online if you have MySave Online. If you’re changing a business, club, charity or society name, you must visit your local branch with your documents.

We’ll send you a new card within 3 – 5 working days and chequebook (if you have one) within 7 – 10 days.

We need to know:

  • a sort code and account number for one of your accounts
  • your existing forename(s), surname and date of birth
  • your new forename(s), surname and email
  • the reason for your name change – marriage / civil partnership, divorce / dissolution order, or deed poll / statutory declaration.

If you need to change details on a Child Trust Fund, download the Change of Registered Contact Form, and send it to the Legal & General address at the top of the form.

If you have a passbook, we can update your passbook the next time you’re in branch if it isn’t full up.

Relevant documents

You must send the original document from the following list - we can’t accept photocopies or certified copies:

  • marriage certificate
  • civil partnership certificate
  • decree absolute
  • dissolution order
  • deed poll
  • statutory declaration.

Change of name for insurance or investment products

Contact your policy provider(s) directly to change your name. Find a list insurance and investment providers, and their phone, email and addresses to contact.

Change of name for a business, club, charity or society

You must come into branch to update the name of your business, club, charity or society. We must see the originals of the following supporting documents – we can’t accept photocopies or certified copies.

Clubs and societies

  • the club / society constitution and/or rules; or
  • a letterhead confirming the club/society name; or
  • a letter confirming purpose of the club/society.

Registered charities

  • The official document from the Charity Commission quoting the registered charity number.
  • If the charity is a limited company we also need the Certificate of Incorporation.


  • The Companies House document.

Change of name for MySave Online

  1. Log in to MySave
  2. Select 'Change Details' in the left hand menu
  3. Print and fill in the form, making sure it's signed by all account holders
  4. Send the form with the relevant original documents to:
