You may be able to request the following changes to be made to your plan depending on when you bought it:

  • change the term of the policy
  • change to increase or decrease the amount of cover
  • the removal of a life assured
  • change the frequency of your premiums between annually and monthly

Making changes to your policy may affect the premiums that you pay. Legal & General will assess all requested changes based on your circumstances and health at the time. They'll let you know if the change you ask for will mean that your existing policy has to be cancelled and a new plan set up. A new policy may have different terms and conditions

Before making a critical illness claim please check your original policy document for details of the illnesses covered.

A member of the claims team will send you a blank claim form for you to complete and return back with your original policy document. They will then write to your GP and specialist to confirm the diagnosis, when the diagnosis is confirmed the payment will be sent to the bank account nominated on your claim form.

If you need to make a claim, it's important that you continue to pay your premiums while your claim is assessed. This is because the premiums may be paying for other parts of the policy, for example Life Assurance or Waiver of Premium Benefit. This cover will remain in force until a decision is made on your claim. Any overpaid premiums will be refunded once your claim is paid.
