For example, during registration your details are validated to make sure it’s really you that’s asking to use the service and everything’s verified using VeriSign, the global name in secure e-commerce. 

The Banking app is protected by your Internet Bank security details so only you have access. And on top of all that, we use sophisticated encryption technology for secure data transfer from your mobile phone.

Be aware SMS phishing

SMS Phishing or ‘Smishing’ is where fraudsters use an SMS text message to get hold of personal details to commit Fraud. At Nationwide, we’ll never ask for your full PIN or password through any communication.     

Remember:


  • We'll never ask for your full PIN and password by SMS Text or by phone at any time.
  • Some phones convert text to web page addresses and we may send you links to surveys or other helpful pages on our website. 
  • We won’t send you a link to Internet Banking, ask for your log-in details or for you to use a card reader.
  • If you are in doubt about a link, don’t click on it.
  • If we call you after sending a text we won’t ask for your PIN, card reader pass code or tell you to transfer money to another account for safekeeping.

Keep your phone safe

  • Keep an eye on your mobile phone and don’t leave it where others can access it.
  • Put a password lock on your mobile phone.
  • Never store log in details on your phone.
  • Regularly check your bank accounts for anomalies.
  • Take care when using unsecured WI-FI networks (e.g. in a coffee shop), as other people using the same network could access your data.
