Making transfers between your Nationwide accounts couldn't be easier. You can do this online with our quick transfer tool (where this service is available on your account), in branch or by phone.

An internal transfer is an immediate transfer and can be made between your own Nationwide accounts.

Typically it's used to make transfers from your current account to your savings account.

How to do an internal transfer

You can only make a quick transfer using Internet Banking, if you'd like to register for any of these services, follow these links:

To make a quick transfer online, login to the Internet bank and simply follow the step by step guide below, using the quick transfer option on the left of the screen.

You can also make an internal transfer by selecting 'move money'. You'll need to select 'Transfer money between Nationwide accounts' then 'Enter transfer details' of the account you want to send money from and to. Enter the amount and confirm the payment.

Make a quick transfer online


  1. Log in to the Internet Bank
  2. Find 'Quick transfer'
  3. Select the accounts you wish to transfer to and from
  4. Add the amount to transfer
  5. Select go

It's also possible to complete an internal transfer using the Banking app (where this service is available on your account) by selecting 'Payments & transfers' and choosing the account you want the money to come from and go to.

Our Impulse saver option on the Nationwide Banking app also uses internal transfers to let you to move money to your savings quickly.

Internal payment transfer limits

Nationwide credit card £0.01 - £10,000 per transaction Next day Available balance is updated on the same day.
Balance and transactions will show online the next working day.
Nationwide mortgage £0.01 - £10,000 per transaction Next day Transfers show online the next day.
Check your terms and conditions for charges as some mortgage products apply charges for overpayments.
Nationwide personal loan £0.01 - £10,000 per transaction Next day Transfers normally arrive the same day the payment is made.

Important information: We will attempt to make Direct Debits, standing orders or bill payments on the morning they are due, and if there are insufficient funds in the account to make the payment, we will try again in the afternoon, after 2:30pm .

Cash ISAs - You cannot transfer more than your annual ISA allowance during any single tax year (6 April to 5 April).
Passbook Accounts You cannot transfer online, please ask at a branch.
Interest is earned on the date the transfer is made.

Future dated payments: This service is not available. You will need to make your transfer on the day you want the money to be paid into your current account. The funds will clear immediately.

Timescales to set up, change or cancel a payment from your Nationwide account

Once you've confirmed your payment on the Internet Bank, you won't be able to change the amount, or cancel the payment.

Let us show you how to set up and make a payment to a new person or organisation.

  • You can cancel or change a payment up to 10pm on the working day before it's due. Find out how to cancel or make a change to your payment online.   
  • As long as you confirm your instructions before 10pm on the working day before you want the payment to be sent, you can set up a new payment to leave your account the next day. If your payment instruction is received after 10pm the payment will be sent on the next working day.

You can:

  • cancel a payment or change the amount up to 8:30pm on the working day before the payment is due. You can't cancel or amend the payment if it is due that day. Find out how to cancel or make a change to your payment online
  • set up a payment for the next day up to 8:30pm. Payments after this are made the next working day. You can do this online, on your Banking app or in branch.

Find out how to set up a Direct Debit. You can cancel a Direct Debit up to 6pm the day before the money is due to be taken.

Direct Debits aren't paid at the weekend, but if you have one due on a Monday, you can cancel it up to 6pm on Saturday.
