The large majority of web pages on nationwide.co.uk and subsidiary sites were built with accessibility in mind from the outset. As such, these pages already offer flexibility for people with specific needs. Our suggestions to improve the accessibility of web pages on nationwide.co.uk should also work for other sites that you visit. Please note that they won't affect images on the screen.

  • Press [Ctrl] + to increase the size of text and images
  • Press [Ctrl] – to decrease the size of text and images
  • Press [Ctrl] 0 to return the size of text and images to their original size

You cannot change the default fonts and colours in Chrome unless you download the ChangeColors extension, which can be found by searching on the Chrome Web Store or linking directly to the ChangeColors extension.

  • Click the Install button to install the ChangeColors extension
  • Once installed, right-click the ChangeColors icon (it will be visible to the right of the URL field) and select Options
  • Choose your preferences for fonts and colours
  • Click on the ChangeColors icon to toggle between your preferences and the website’s design

  • Press [Ctrl] + to increase the size of text and images
  • Press [Ctrl] – to decrease the size of text and images
  • Press [Ctrl] 0 to return the size of text and images to their original size
  • To magnify only text, go to View > Zoom and check Zoom text only

  • Go to Tools > Options
  • Select the Content tab
  • In Fonts and Colors, click the Colors button on the right
  • Set your colour preferences for text, background and links
  • Uncheck 'Allow pages to choose their own colors instead of my selections above’
  • Click on OK in the Colors window, then click OK in the Options window

  • Go to Tools > Options
  • Select Content tab
  • In Fonts and Colors, choose default font and size or click the Advanced button on the right for more options
  • Click OK

  • Go to Tools > Options
  • Select the Content tab
  • Uncheck 'Load Images Automatically'
  • Click OK

  • Press [Ctrl] + to increase the size of text and images
  • Press [Ctrl] – to decrease the size of text and images

  • In the View menu, choose Text Size
  • Increase or decrease to suit your needs

  • In the View / Tools menu, click Internet Options
  • On the General tab, select Accessibility
  • Click the three boxes to show ticks

  • In the View / Tools menu, click Internet Options
  • On the General tab, click Fonts
  • In the Proportional and Fixed-width font lists, select the fonts you would like to use

  • In the View / Tools menu, click Internet Options
  • On the General tab, click Colors
  • Click on the tick box labelled Use Windows Colors
  • Click Text, and select the colour you want. Click OK
  • Click Background, and select the colour you want to use. Click OK 

  • In the View / Tools menu, click Internet Options
  • On the Advanced tab, scroll down to Multimedia
  • Click on Show pictures to remove the tick
  • Click on Apply, and then click on OK

  • Click Full Screen on the toolbar
  • In the View / Tools menu, click Internet Options
  • Select the Advanced tab
  • Choose the options you would like

  • Press [Cmd] + to increase the size of text and images
  • Press [Cmd] – to decrease the size of text and images
  • Press [Cmd] 0 to return the size of text and images to their original size
  • To magnify text only, go to View > Zoom Text Only

  • Go to Safari > Preferences
  • Select Appearance tab
  • Click Select to the right of Standard Font to choose the font, size and colour
  • Close the window

  • Go to Safari > Preferences
  • Select Appearance tab
  • Uncheck ‘Display images when the page opens’
  • Close the window

  • Go to Safari > Preferences
  • Select Appearance tab
  • Check ‘Never use font sizes smaller than’ and select a font size
  • Close the window
