Nationwide renews sponsorship of Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra

New deal includes support for community projects and concerts

Nationwide Building Society is to continue as principal sponsor of Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra (BSO), supporting a range of community and education projects across the region as well as a number of concerts throughout the year.

Nationwide is a major employer in Bournemouth and has a significant presence across the BSO's heartlands of the South and the West. The Society will be sponsoring BSO concerts over the next 12 months, including Summer Firework Concerts at Meyrick Park, Bournemouth and Broadlands, Romsey, and the Orchestra's Christmas and New Year concert series.

The deal also means that Nationwide will take on the role of title sponsor for the BSO Community Musician, Andy Baker, as well as working with the orchestra on a number of key community projects including BSO Resonate and its Rusty Musicians Project.

Alastair Pegg, Head of Brand Marketing at Nationwide Building Society, said:
"Nationwide is delighted to continue its working relationship with Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra and is looking forward to getting involved and supporting both grassroots initiatives and concerts. This year's partnership will take a new approach that is aligned with our commitment to supporting local communities, particularly initiatives such as the Rusty Musicians Project that encourages amateur musicians to start playing again."

Simon Taylor, BSO Chief Executive, said:
"Nationwide Building Society has shown itself to be a far-sighted and generous supporter at a time when corporate support for the arts is becoming increasingly important in our society. In particular, its support for the orchestra's Community Musician post will prove a vital means of bringing classical music to young people in new and exciting ways.

"Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra is delighted that its long association with Nationwide Building Society is to continue into the future."
