Nationwide Building Society – a sponsor of football in the UK for over a decade – announced a deal with The Football Association of Wales (FAW) in 2006 to extend its sponsorship of the Wales team. This four-year deal runs from the start of the 2006/2007 season until the end of the 2009/2010 season.

David Collins, Secretary General of the Football Association of Wales, commented: "The Football Association of Wales is delighted to continue its partnership with Nationwide as the National Team Sponsor of Wales."

"The partnership, shortly to enter its ninth year, which will continue until the end of the World Cup in 2010, has brought many benefits to both companies."

Chris Hull, Nationwide's Sponsorship Controller, said: "Nationwide's relationship with the Wales national team stretches back eight years and we are thrilled to extend our sponsorship of the side."

"Nationwide is delighted to re-affirm its commitment and relationship with the local community through our sponsorship of the Wales team."

"We have 29 branches in towns and cities across Wales and we will be engaging with football supporters, our members and employees through our Wales sponsorship."

"Sponsorship forms a very important part of our communication process and it is a great way to promote our brand to a huge audience. As the world's biggest building society and a growing business, it is very important for us to continue to find powerful ways of communicating the benefits that we can offer to our members and to potential new customers."
