Nationwide Building Society – a sponsor of football in the UK for over a decade – announced a deal with the Scottish Football Association in 2006 to extend its associate sponsorship of the Scotland team. This four-year deal, means Nationwide will be official Financial Services partner of the Scotland team, runs from the start of the 2006/2007 season until the end of the 2009/2010 season.
David Taylor, Chief Executive of the Scottish FA, commented: "The ongoing backing of Nationwide for our national team represents another significant investment in Scottish football, and is the third major sponsorship announcement this week.
"The Scotland team has already worked in partnership with Nationwide for a number of years, and the fact that they have signed their largest deal yet with us shows how successful this has been. We hope that the partnership will continue to be of great benefit to both parties."
Chris Hull, Nationwide's Sponsorship Controller, said: "Nationwide is delighted to continue its partnership with the Scotland team and Scottish Football Association.
"Nationwide has been on board with the Scotland national team for nearly eight years and we are thrilled to extend our sponsorship of the side.
"In Scotland alone, Nationwide has 43 branches in towns and cities across the country and we will be working our sponsorship with Scotland supporters, our members and employees.
"Sponsorship forms a very important part of our communication process and it is a great way to promote our brand to a huge audience. As the world's biggest building society and a growing business, it is very important for us to continue to find powerful ways of communicating the benefits that we can offer to our members and to potential new customers."
