Nationwide's sort codes are determined by the account type, rather than the branch they are held at.

Where to find your sort code and account number

Please note: Your full account number is provided in your welcome letter when you first open your account. It is also now available when you log in to the Online Bank – no need to call in or visit a branch if you can’t find your original paperwork.

+ Current account

You can find your sort code, account number and your 4 digit branch prefix number either:

  • on the bottom of your card
  • on the top of your statement, or
  • if you have a cheque book, along the bottom/top of your chequebook.

+ Savings accounts with a card

You can find your sort code and account number either:

  • on the bottom of your card, or
  • on the top of your statement.

+ Savings accounts with a bond / passbook, and /or an ISA

Your full account number, including your 4 digit branch prefix, is printed on the inside cover of your passbook, the front of your bond certificate, or can be found when you log in to the Online Bank.

+ Online savings accounts (excluding ISAs)

Your full account number can be found when you log in to the Online Bank.

+ Credit cards

You can find your 16 digit account number either:

  • across the middle of your card
  • at the top of your statement, or
  • on the detachable bank giro credit slip at the foot of your statement.

It will be in the following format XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX.

Your 3 digit security code is printed on the back of your credit card to the right of the white signature strip.

+ Mortgage accounts

You can find your account number displayed on the top left of your year end statement.

+ BusinessInvestor

You can find your sort code or account number either:

  • on the bottom of your cheque book, or
  • the top of your statement.

+ Regular Saver

Your 8 digit account number is presented to you on the confirmation screen when opening the account.
